T Resources Limited is developing a 50 MWp solar photovoltaic plant at Kitapilimwa village, to supply clean electricity to Tanzania's national grid through TANESCO.

String inverters convert the output and feed an internal medium voltage network.
The modules receive 2,951 kWh/m² of solar irradiation a year. The energy yield assessment gives an annual performance ratio of 85.1% and 120.95 GWh of net electricity to the grid in year one on a P50 basis.

The plant sits at Kitapilimwa village, Kihwele ward, Iringa Rural District (7°39'30"S, 35°39'09"E). T Resources holds the land under a 99-year title deed over 378 acres. The first phase uses 177 acres, which leaves room for a second phase of similar size on the same land.
A 25 km, 33 kV double-circuit line will carry the power to the TANESCO Iringa-Tagamenda 400/220/33 kV substation, where a 65 MVA 33/220 kV transformer steps it up to the transmission grid. TANESCO has reviewed the grid interconnection study, and the routing and design of the line are under way.
The project has secured its land, completed its feasibility and grid studies and submitted its environmental assessment. The next steps are the power purchase agreement, the environmental certificate, financial close and the start of construction.
